How Does the 2018 Premium Help Program Work?

For many of our friends and neighbors, healthcare is still unaffordable, even with the healthcare marketplace and federal tax assistance to help pay for premiums.  PremiumHelp.org (United Way of the Greater Triangle) is here to help those that meet certain income, residency, and renewal requirements.  If you qualify, United Way of the Greater Triangle will pay the remainder of your health insurance premium each month, directly to the insurance carrier.

If you’re eligible, here are the steps you need to follow to apply for premium payment assistance from PremiumHelp.org:

  1. Enroll for a qualifying 2017 health plan* at Healthcare.gov, and choose one of the following qualifying “Silver-Level Plans” with “Cost Share Reduction” (CSR):

    The qualifying plans for 2017 are as follows:

    • Blue Local 4000
    • Blue Value 4000
    • Blue Local 7000*
    • Blue Value 7000*
  2. Choose “FULL Advance Payment” of your Premium Tax Credit when you buy your health insurance.

  3. Complete the PremiumHelp.Org Application Form by mail, fax, telephone, or website.

  4. United Way of the Greater Triangle will notify you if you are accepted into the PremiumHelp.org program, and what steps remain to have your next premium paid.

*Plans with the asterisk are the only plans available for tobacco users from PremiumHelp.org.
